Dr. Patricia Cullen

Dr. Patricia Cullen is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Population Health at UNSW. Her work centres on health, wellbeing and healing for people navigating challenges at the intersection of mental health, violence, and trauma. She focuses on practical ways to implement trauma and violence-informed care—an area she was drawn to by her own experiences as a young person. Her work is enriched by those she works alongside as a researcher, advocate, educator, and in clinical practice as a Psychologist, with an emphasis on keeping the perspectives of those directly impacted at the forefront of shaping research and practice initiatives.

Patricia combines co-design, qualitative methods, and a collaborative approach to designing initiatives, implementation strategies, and innovative program evaluations that create meaningful change in practice. Her current work also explores how organisations can develop supportive cultures through workforce development, peer-led initiatives, and frameworks that prevent trauma and foster collective care. She is passionate about supporting workplaces and communities to create safer, more inclusive environments for survivors and those who support them.
